The future of nature is our future

Christmas is a time for family gatherings and gift-giving. We have an environment that is a gift from nature. And aware of this, since 1999, at Camping Les Medes we have implemented an Environmental Management System to take care, control and minimize the impact we generate on the environment.

Since 2000, Joan Francesc Recio „Siscu“ has been taking care of the System’s operation. He is a prepared person with a lot of experience, many of you already know him, with his tablet going around the Campsite.

We will work to have an ever smaller carbon footprint. For this reason, next January 2023 we will install 270 photovoltaic panels which, if all goes well, will produce around 130,000 Kw/h per year. These represent between 25 and 30% of the total electrical energy consumed at the Campsite.

And not only this. We want to continue working in this direction and therefore, by the year 2030, we expect that 50% of the energy we need will be produced by photovoltaic solar panels. And by 2050 we will ensure that the total energy is produced by photovoltaic solar panels.

On the other hand, we are actively participating in the Stopmacroparceòlic Association, to try to stop a monumental aggression that is being carried out in the Gulf of Roses, 8 km away of the Medes Islands. The construction of a macro wind farm with 80 windmills 260 meters high that will damage the environment, right in the middle of the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park and the Natural Park Montgrí, the Medes Islands and Baix Ter.
